Here's what we're working on:
Math: We are working on addition. Students are required to estimate sums and find the actual sum. You may see your child solving addition problems in a different way- don't be alarmed! :) We will be learning a variety of strategies this year, focusing on the understanding of the foundations of math concepts. If you have any questions about a strategy, feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to explain any of them to you.
Social Studies: We have begun our Ancient Greece unit. We will be studying the contributions of Ancient Greeks, as well and the physical and human characteristics of Greece. Check down below on this blog for links to great websites about Ancient Greece.

- This is my 11th year of teaching and my 6th year here at Emerald Hill. I graduated from Penn State in 2003 and received my National Board Certification in 2008. I was raised in Mountainhome, PA and I'm the youngest of seven children. My brothers and sisters are spread all over the East Coast, but we try to keep in touch the best we can! I've been married to my wonderful husband, Mark, for nine years and we have two adorable sons. Blake turned 5 in July and Cole turned 2 in March.
